I dont know if you know this, but alot of our parents work in that area.. but you probably werent thinking much when you said what you said.. and to think.. i actually thought you were a smart person at one point.. Like i said in my dland.. ignorance spreads like poison

Hi Lani, You don't know me, but I used to really like your diary. You've always seemed really honest, and really reflective, and I loved that. Your last entry is honest, and while I can admire that given the baseness of what you said, I don't think it's reflective. Maybe you didn't have time to reflect. But I wanted to tell you something about what happened on Tuesday. My brother was there in NY and escaped with thousands of other people, running through that same rubble and that same wind and that same horror that you saw on TV. Hundreds of people from my school are now in NY, working in the Trade Center and in Lower Manhattan, and I don't know if they're dead or alive. I hope you never have to go through the worry and distress and panic and terror that my family and thousands - hundreds of thousands - of other families went through on Tuesday and are still going through today. Because you wouldn't be feeling giddy. But maybe it would make you realize how important to you both the people you love and people who you've never even met before are, and then maybe you wouldn't think so insensitively. Your diary is your space, and I respect that, but since I've been reading you for awhile I thought you might appreciate hearing the words of someone who was touched by this tragedy more closely than you. And next time you think you're happy about what happened, hunt down that CNN video that showed people in the streets of Palestine celebrating America's grief, and see what you feel then. Because you put yourself in that same category when you enjoy the excitement and the Hollywood glamour of an event that has torn apart the lives of millions. -XG
